implantable contact lens

If you are nearsighted or farsighted, you may be considering implantable contact lens surgery.  This procedure is an alternative to correcting vision, and better than lasik surgery in that the procedure is reversible.  The implantable contact lens can be removed or corrected and exchanged with another lens.

There is a quick rehabilitation period after implantable contact lens surgery.  The vision correction is performed in the optic axis, between the lens and the iris.  The intra-occular structure of the eye is not changes and the cornea is left untouched. The lenses that are implanted are made of a highly flexible material that is tolerant to the biology of your eyes.

ICL, or implantable contact lens surgery originated in 1993. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) panel has recommended the ICL for approval.  Final FDA approval is now pending.  The patient is awake during the surgery, and at this time you may find a vision care doctor who will perform a clinical trail surgery on your eyes.
